Troponin I Kit
Troponin I is a regulatory protein and a component of the troponin complex, which plays a vital role in the contraction of striated muscles (skeletal and cardiac muscles). The cardiac isoform of Troponin I (cTnI) is expressed exclusively in the heart muscle. Cardiac Troponin I is primarily contained within heart muscle cells (though trace amounts may be present in the bloodstream under normal, healthy conditions); the leakage—or release—of significant quantities of cardiac troponin into the bloodstream is an indicator of cardiac injury. Currently, elevated levels of cTnI serve as the standard biochemical marker for diagnosing myocardial infarction (commonly known as a heart attack)—a life-threatening emergency characterized by the death of heart muscle cells due to an interruption in the heart’s oxygen supply. The release of Troponin I into the bloodstream begins 4 to 6 hours after cardiac injury and remains elevated for up to two weeks, providing an extended window for diagnosing cardiac damage and monitoring existing heart conditions.
Applications:
The Troponin I test is an immunochromatographic assay designed for the qualitative detection of the human cardiac marker Troponin I (cTnI) in human whole blood, serum, or plasma, aiding in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction (MI).
• It is compatible with a wide range of sample types, including plasma, serum, capillary blood, and venous blood. • Lack of cross-reactivity (interference) with skeletal Troponin I, Troponin T, and cardiac myosin has been confirmed.
Performance evaluation:
• Sensitivity: 99.4%
• Specificity: 99.9%
